Henrik Bønnelycke, founder of Bønnelycke MDD, is a remarkable figure in a long line of well renowned Danish designers. He designs things of great beauty and international recognition and there is usually an element of subtlety in almost everything he does.
Originally a toolmaker, he established Bønnelycke MDD in 1988 and he has since made several contributions to the Danish design legacy. Creating products because they are needed has been a mantra of his since the beginning.
Furniture, lamps, interiors, album covers and sunglasses, the latter worn by the King of Denmark. The designs are always of high quality and shows great talent. Consequently, Bønnelycke MDD's designs are often award winners.
#102 Lounge Chair
The #102 Lounge Chair which is both beautiful and comfortable, was designed by Bønnelycke MDD in 2002. Although it is expected to become one of the furniture icons, it is yet quite different from the rest. Simple, elegant, and extremely comfortable.
The #102 Lounge Chair has many wonderful details – such as the mortise and tenon joints and slight color variations of the wood.
The bent back rail allows a very laidback sitting position, it is truly a "sitter’s chair", as Henrik Bønnelycke puts it.
The chair is made of solid oak and the upholstery is made of semi aniline leather, whereas the cushion is PU foam of the highest quality.

With a solid wooden back rail that made numerous qualified furniture factories back out of the project, the complexity of the construction is, in itself, unique but still quite minimalistic and beautiful. High quality and comfort in various seating positions is what you get.
